Here are a few video clips of the kids on the ice ...
We've been busy despite the ice ... lots of falling and sliding, but it's been fun. Miss Lilly was laughing so hard while playing in the backyard at one point I thought she might pee her pants. She is hilarious to watch out here. Oh, to be young again and not hurt when you fall on the ice! On the 3rd day in a row of no school the children have started to get on each other's nerves, which mean they are on mine. So, in efforts to preserve those nerves we got out a new wii game ... Just Dance Kids. The kids played it at their cousins in December and had a blast, so we tried it out today. J.D. and I even joined in the fun - definitely gets your heart going and the kids are hilarious to watch. If you listen you can hear Miss Lilly whistling - she recently figured it out and is always whistling ... even in the bathroom! Can you tell Miss Lilly has been dressing Big D lately. She is convinced that it is her job when she doesn't have to go to school. She is very good to layer ... keeps him warm she says and I'm always amazed at her color combinations. Usually nothing matches, but I can't say it doesn't look good together. She is good at putting different colors that work together :)
The kids also spent some time out on the ice - the sun came out for a bit. Keep in mind that it didn't get out of the 20's today, so while we got some good melting on the driveway it was only the part that had already been scraped. The 4 to 5 inches on the rest of the drive is still solidly there, probably more so, because it melted a little today and will freeze solid again tonight since it'll be near 0. Fun, fun! J.D. drove past the church on the way home today and it will be a small miracle if they can get the sidewalks cleared to get into the church before Sunday. While the roads and parking lots are melting off well, the sidewalks and especially the yards are still horrible. You could probably slide from our yard through the whole neighborhood on a sled.
We made homemade pretzels for lunch - anything to keep hands and minds busy and not bugging each other! They were yummy too! Looking forward to school tomorrow - it's been fun, but I think we are all ready for normal life again. Even if there is a two hour delay ... at least it is an attempt!
