Mayhem

It's my new state of being.  I may look cool, calm and collected on the outside, but really - my inside is in a state of utter disorder and craziness.  The reason for this is simple ... SCHOOL IS OUT, the kids are home, and any thoughts of getting anything accomplished or keeping anything in a coherent, organized system  are delusions of grandeur at this point, which makes my mind crazy!  So, in efforts to contain the mayhem, I'm declaring my life to be an existence that revolves around my children, in hopes that by losing my life with them in their crazy world of all things playing/learning/jumping/creating/discovering, I will eventually find it this fall when Big D goes to preschool!  I can hardly believe it - for a few hours each week I will have all my children in school?!?!  Will I be able to remain sane with just my own mind to talk to?

I also was released from my calling in the Relief Society (organization for Women) at church and put in as the nursery leader with 14, 18 month to 3 year old kids in my class!  Talk about mayhem!  It is just a state of controlled chaos in there for 2 hours every Sunday.  But, I'm loving taking my shoes off for class, playing on the floor, kissing 'ow'ies, learning the simple joys of the gospel with them, and sharing in their learning, discovery and growing.  Nobody is that age long enough!  They grow up so fast!

Spring Soccer at it's best!  Big D played for the first time this year and loved it!  He even kicked his first goal in the last game.  I love his aggressive 'mean' face that he puts on when he is 'ready' to play.
Went on the 4th grade field trip with Master S' class this year - talk about Mayhem!  We went to Eagle Creek Park and got to do some really cool stuff.  This is a bull frog that we all got to meet.  Big D calls him 'kissy frog'.
Mother's Day Flowers --- just beautiful!  Breakfast in bed and lots of cards and hugs.  Perfect!
Flag Football - Master S played this year.  He loved it.  He asked to play tackle in the fall ... I asked him if he was willing to get pummeled into the ground by someone twice his size and not cry about it.  After thinking about it for a few minuts, he is not playing tackle in the fall ...  But, flag we will definitely do again.  He had a great coach, a lot of fun and it was only 5 weeks long!  My kind of season - limited mayhem!
Yes - this is definately the midwest and it is spring - can you see the corn growing in the background and the tractor spraying it with ammonia?  Welcome to Indiana!
It is warm - with not to much in the way of rain and since the pool doesn't open until this weekend, and the kids finished up school last Friday, we are playing in the 'shark' pool on the porch.  Perfect to cool off in and get out of mom's space in the afternoon.

Miss Lilly had a birthday a few weeks ago.  We had darling pictures but, the memory stick will not read in the computer and shuts down the camera when it is put in it, so I'll have to sum up the day in words.

Miss Lilly's favorite part was going to the mall - where she got to make 'Charlotte' her new kitty.  The whole family had dinner together at Red Robin where the waitress' and waiters sang happy birthday to her, totally surprised her!  We had cake and ice cream at home - a cat cake with fluffy white icing and a new princess nightgown and a CD player of her own.

Since our gift to the kids for their birthdays this year was new paint in their rooms, I got Miss Lilly's done - and she loves it!  Now - I'm working on the quilt for her room, which she is helping with too.  We are coloring Mary Engelbreit flowers and then putting them together with some of her fabric ... this is what we have so far ... yes, this is one of those things that will not get done this summer!

Miss Lilly is a joy!
She makes us laugh.
She keeps us constantly on our toes.
She loves to read.
She is smart & beautiful.
She loves tumbling and gymnastics.
She loves all things Prairie, especially Laura Ingalls Wilder.
And she loves all animals!
She is an awesome whistler.
Her imagination cannot be contained.
She is generous and kind (when she wants to be).
She loves music and loves to stay up late and sleep in.
During a recent impromptu neighborhood kids dance party - she timidly decided to dance in the spotlight, doing some awesome lunges ... I think she's watched me exercise one too many times!
Happy 7th Birthday Miss Lilly!
