So, I've been wanting to make these for a long time. They are made from a bib pattern that my Grandmother uses -- she makes them for all the great-grandbabies when they are born and they are awesome! I have several, but could always use more and I thought they'd make a great, and inexpensive baby gift. They cover the whole front, plus the sides and over the top of the sleeves, which makes keeping a toddler clean, while eating or painting, etc. a breeze. I decided to try some fun 'food' applique and add Velcro instead of ties - so here is the finished product. The food ones are cute, but I love the airplane one -- it's saved for you Bess :)Friday, February 20, 2009

Bored with these four walls? Let's visit the hospital!
Yes, we had another exciting visit to a local hosptial. This time it was the county hospital (a little smaller than the last ER visit) but it was one of the best hosptials I've ever had the chance to visit, which was a good thing -- we were there from Tuesday morning until Thursday afternoon, just me and Big D. Good quality mom and me time!! It wasn't too bad for awhile, all he wanted to do was sleep and snuggle, which who can say no to that?!?! He started with the stomach flu Sunday night and really didn't keep much down, including water for 36 hours, so Tuesday morning when he woke up and promptly threw up a very small amount of water and pedialyte, then laid on the floor dis-interested in anything, I knew it was time to do something. The Dr.'s office suggested the ER, so as soon as Master S got on the bus, Miss Lilly went to play at a heaven-sent neighbor and Big D and I went to the hosptial. In the ER he was diagnosed with significant dehydration and possible viral gastroenteritis and earned himself a few nights at the hosptial, in the pediatric unit, complete with an IV and lots of fuild replacement therapy. Poor guy . . . after a few hours no matter who walked in the room he would cry - and that really didn't change the whole two days. Needless to say I was very excited to come home today - to my own bed, seperate from Big D's and no nurses to come in and check IV's in the middle of the night!!! Hopefully we won't get bored with these four walls again, anytime soon!

Kentucky and Cousins!
Only a few hours away and we have cousins to play with! I am so blessed to have a sister-in-law who might as well be a sister in every sense of the word! She is wonderful and so is her family. Thanks again for the delightful weekend. The kids keep asking when we get to see you again. I went to my first auction on Saturday, which was way too much fun -- too bad I didn't have any money to burn. I think Bess, we'll have to plan at least one of those every time I visit! She also took me to an incredible consignment shop which resulted in some fabulous fabric for drapes, and three awesome candlesticks. And I must say, I left Kentucky inspired to do more with fabric -- so there you have it Bess, an inspiration too! Anyone interested in a quilt block of the month club? Anyway, it was gorgeous weather - perfect to start some major spring fever and an incredible way to spend a great weekend. Got some way cute pics of Big D in the wagon too!Monday, February 2, 2009
